John McLaughlin + Marcia Hafif
October 20 - December 6, 2011
Franklin Parrasch Gallery is pleased to present this exhibition of works by two minimalist painters in our Chelsea location.
Included is a triptych entitled #7 (1971) by the late California minimalist painter John McLaughlin (B. 1898 - D. 1976). The painting, which measures 5 ft. by 12 ft., is a rare example of McLaughlin’s work on a large scale.
Marcia Hafif (B. 1929) contributes Black Painting: Ultramarine Blue and Burnt Umber IV (1979), adding a different tone to the contemplative environment. Click here to read her text Beginning Again, originally published in ArtForum (September 1978, pp. 34-40).
